Step 1: Claim and Fully Optimise Your Google Business Profile

This is non-negotiable. If you haven't claimed your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business), do it today before reading further.

What fully optimised looks like:
  • Business name exactly as it appears on your signboard and GST certificate
  • Primary and secondary categories set correctly (very important)
  • Address with pin code — must match your website exactly
  • All phone numbers listed, including WhatsApp
  • Business hours including holidays
  • 20+ high-quality photos (interior, exterior, team, products/work)
  • Services listed with descriptions and prices where possible
  • "From the business" description using your top 3–5 keywords naturally
The reviews factor: Businesses with 50+ reviews at 4.5+ stars dominate the local pack. Ask every satisfied customer to leave a Google review. Make it easy — send them a direct link via WhatsApp.

Step 2: Consistent NAP Across the Web

NAP = Name, Address, Phone. Google cross-references your business information across the web. Inconsistencies — slightly different addresses, old phone numbers, name variations — confuse Google's local ranking algorithm.
